NATIVE REMEMBRANCE DAY
I hope your day is spent with family and friends, celebrating your life and giving thanks to the blessings we receive every day.
Part of loving ourselves is being able to accept our principles, who we are and what we believe in, even if it sometimes makes other people uncomfortable. Some people think my choice to honor this day by remembering the lives lost and the injustices that still stood not that long ago is a way of complaining or being ungrateful for others traditions, when it couldn’t be farther from the truth. I simply choose to honor it in my way, and others can honor it in theirs.
And this is so important as a whole, that while we honor, love, respect and accept ourselves, we can not and should not try to force others to do the same. They will or they won’t. They will inquire or they won’t. But what we can do is stay rock-steady in our journey to love Self, to love others and hope they love Self, to honor what we believe in. I understand that some things we do will make others uncomfortable, but thats almost always a place of growth for everyone, and there’s always greatness in that.
So, today, I am thankful for life, family, great food and this land, and I honor those who sacrificed and also who all too often suffered to make this our own. It is important for us to remember.
I pray you are safe, fed, and warm on this holiday. Sending love to all ❤ Happy Native Remembrance Day. For anyone who wants to hear more about other people sharing similar views, you can watch HERE.
